A large, Navajo tufa-cast silver figural bird pin from The Navajo Arts and Crafts Guild, circa 1940’s-1950’s

A lovely and charming piece in the form of a stylized roadrunner or other large bird, this good-sized pin is perfectly-crafted from very finely tufa-cast and then highly-polished silver. This is extremely difficult to do in such a precise and graceful manner and is completely in line with The Navajo Guild’s stated mission to produce only classic-style, beautifully- made Navajo silver jewelry using traditional techniques.  The pin measures 3” in width and is 1 ½” in height and weighs 12.3 grams/.43 ounces. The pin is properly marked on the back with the NACG’s “Horned-Sun” insignia. Both the pin and its rollover-style clasp are in excellent original condition.
