A lovely Santo Domingo Pueblo, New Mexico turquoise heishi bead necklace, c.1960’s-70’s

A very striking necklace made of gorgeous, clear blue turquoise heishi beads with a lovely, light brown matrix, most probably from the famous Cerrillos turquoise mine not far from Santo Domingo Pueblo about 25 miles south of Santa Fe.

The approximately 140 beads in this necklace are subtly rounded at

their edges and they taper in diameter from a maximum of 5/16” down to 1/8”. The necklace measures 9 1/4” from the top of the clasp to the bottom of the beads measured while lying flat on a table and it is

19 1/2” in circumference tip-to-tip measured when completely opened up.

It weighs 32 grams or 1 1/8 ounces.

It is in excellent original condition. The necklace is finished with handmade silver cones which are just shy of an inch in length and it closes with a silver hook and eye-style clasp. This is a very beautiful necklace which is comfortable enough to wear anytime and versatile enough to wear with just about anything.
