An elegant Georg Jensen Danish Modernist

Sterling silver ring set with a large, golden tiger's eye cabochon stone, c.1940's-60's

We are a long way from the American Southwest here, but we are all about beautiful jewelry whether it be Native American or otherwise and this lovely and classic ring from the iconic Danish jewelry house founded in1904 really rings the bell for us. Georg Jensen pieces are characterized by their classic, streamlined Scandinavian-tinged elegance, crisp functionality and distinctly Modernist style and this ring beautifully exemplifies all those characteristics.

The silver work here is just marvelous; cleanly and skillfully done, with a subtle curvature to the silver bezel platform and shank and the ring is set with a striking and distinctive oval-shaped richly-colored golden tiger’s eye stone.

The ring measures a size 6 1/2 to 6 3/4 on a professional graduated ring sizer. The ring’s face is 1 1/4” in length and 3/4” in width. It weighs a satisfying and completely comfortable 19 grams or 5/8 of an ounce.

The ring is in completely excellent original condition and it is properly hallmarked  “Georg Jensen”, ”925S”, “Denmark” and “46E” on the interior. This is a classic and elegant piece of mid-century Danish Modernist jewelry, both a distinct pleasure to wear and to gaze upon.
